    June After-School Nature Program

    "Pond Life"

    Kids will learn about the amazing creatures who call Ruckman Pond home! We will explore the aquatic world with hands-on activities and live pond animals!

    Tuesdays- June 6th, 13th, and 20th

    (PreK4 - K) - 3:45 to 5 pm

    Wednesdays- June 7th, 14th, and 21st

    (1st - 3rd grade) - 3:45 to 5 pm

    Thursdays- June 8th, 15th, and 22nd

    (4th - 6th grade) - 3:45 to 5 pm

    $75/ Members - $90/ Non-members

    Father's Day Twilight Hike

    Do it for DAD!

    Date: June 18th

    Time: 8:30-9:30pm

    Fathers and their families are invited to come out for a night of listening to nocturnal sounds, stargazing, and exploring the Closter Nature Center in a new way! Led by CNC Trustee, Francesca Costa, we will take a short walk under the full moon.

    Proper footwear and flashlights are recommended.

    Fee: Pay what you will

  • Earth Day, Volunteer Day

    Volunteer Day

    Dedicated Volunteers Needed!
     
    Closter Nature Center needs your help to address some of the immediate needs of our forest and trail system.
    We hope that you can help us meet this critical need at the Closter Nature Center!

    When: Saturday, April 22nd

    Time: 9am-12pm

    Meeting Place: Closter Nature Center Log Cabin, 154 Ruckman Road, Closter, NJ 07624

    Adult Volunteers Needed (Teens 13-16 with an adult)

    Pre-Registration: Requested  (see form below).

    What to Wear: Work boots, work gloves, long pants, long sleeves

    What we are doing: Our tentative plan for this session is to work on the trails and deer fences. In the case of inclement weather, we will meet in the cabin where Naturalist Marc Gussen will provide an overview of CNC's trail needs and forest stewardship goals.

    The Closter Nature Center has been expanding its team of volunteers for trail maintenance and invasive species removal.  We are looking for physically able volunteers at different levels of skill and time commitment to join in this important work for the sustainability of our 136-acre forest and 3 miles of hiking trails.  

    YOU could be a highly valued member of this very important team! 

    Naturalist Marc Gussen will lead this event. Some other volunteer opportunities are listed here: https://closternaturecenter.org/volunteer-positions-available/ but ALL levels of volunteer are welcome to join.

    Celebrate Earth Day with us on Saturday, April 22nd and bring a friend!
