Volunteer with Us!

We Need Your Help!
Closter Nature Center is dedicated to protecting the 136-acres of forested wetlands that make up our reserve, as well as providing quality educational programming to our community and to the public. Our success in doing so over the past 60 years is a testament to the hard work of scores of dedicated volunteers throughout the decades. The work of Conservation is a constantly active process and we are always looking for new volunteers to lend a hand!
Volunteers play a vital role in nearly every aspect of the Nature Center’s operations. Some help monitor our more than three miles of trails, ensuring that any issues are quickly addressed so visitors can enjoy safe, easy access. Others roll up their sleeves in the field—our Reforestation Initiative depends on dedicated volunteers willing to plant, restore, and sometimes get muddy in wetland habitats. Still others assist with managing invasive species, using their hands or tools to remove encroaching plants so the native forest can thrive.
Many volunteers support our programs and special events as well. Extra help is always welcome when crowds arrive for the Pond Celebration or when Nature Marc finds himself outnumbered by enthusiastic summer campers. And, of course, our Greeters provide an essential connection to the public, welcoming visitors, offering information and interpretation, and helping ensure that everyone who stops by has a safe and memorable experience.

Join our Leadership Team
We’re seeking dedicated individuals to serve on our Board of Trustees or on one of the planning committees that help guide the Nature Center’s continued success. These leadership roles require a greater commitment than our general volunteer positions, but they offer a meaningful opportunity to shape the future and impact of CNC.
Below, you’ll find a link to a handout outlining these opportunities, along with an interest form to complete if you’d like to be considered for these important roles.
